LaToya Okungbowa
Is an Content Creator, Cinematographer and Writer who began her filmmaking journey in 2016 after teaching and coaching at the high school she graduated from in Alief, Tx. Her pursuit for the art of telling authentic stories through written words and cinematic images that represent individuals that look like her, whether you are a women, black, a product of immigrant parent(s) or a part of the LGBTQ+ community, lead her to move to Atlanta in 2018 with her 1st written and produced short film she shot in Houston that won judges favorite at the MPAC Film Festival.
After moving to Atlanta, she quickly connected with other filmmaker like herself by volunteering to work on sets. From there she teamed up with other writers and directors to shoot short films that were accepted into the BronzeLens Film Festival where she was the cinematographer. She was also a part of a writers group that met up weekly. One of the scripts that she wrote was chosen by the writers group to film. She was also the cinematographer for that short film that was accepted into the Peachtree Village International Film Festival.
LaToya formed her company, Alief Grad Productions, in 2020 to continue telling authentic stories through branded content for companies, narratives and documentaries. She also believes in creating a community through educating and inspiring other up incoming filmmakers. In her free time, LaToya loves to attend sporting events, trying new restaurants and chill on the beach while sipping rumchata over ice.
